Oman awards $39 millon worth Road Works Contracts

The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, Oman signed two agreements in the field of roads to the tune of approximately RO 15 million.

The first agreement provides for the completion of the Saih Qatna Road Project in the Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdar (about RO 4.5 million) and the second deals with upgrading Bidbid-Nizwa carriageway (about RO 10.5 million).

The agreements were signed by Eng. Said bin Hamoud al-Ma’awali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, and the CEOs of the companies undertaking the projects.

The Saih Qatna Road project includes the finalization of the 9.2 km current section that starts from the highway in the Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdar and leads to the Riyadh Al Jabal Farm. The road consists of two lanes, each 3.5 metres wide.

The Bidbid-Nizwa carriageway upgrade deals with the restoration of some damaged sections of the dual carriageway, which extends 60 km from the flyover intersection to the Nizwa-Farq Intersection.
