Alfanar Projects, Saudi Arabia announced in a statement that it has formalized several strategic contracts with Saudi Electricity Company (SEC).
The overall value of the contracts is SAR 20 billion.
The projects includes high-voltage direct current (HVDC) project, led by Alfanar Projects in partnership with the China Energy Equipment Group (CET). As the largest HVDC project in the Middle East, it features HVDC converter stations and an overhead transmission line interconnection link, connecting Saudi Arabia’s central, western, and southern regions with a transmission capacity of 7 GW.
In tandem, Alfanar Projects is advancing several other strategic projects, including battery energy storage systems, smart distribution centers, and efforts to integrate renewable energy plants with the national transmission network in a step toward enhancing grid stability, reducing energy loss, and promoting sustainability and energy efficiency.
These agreements align with Vision 2030 and support a comprehensive strategy to strengthen Saudi Arabia’s energy sector. The agreement was signed on the sidelines of Energy Localization forum.
