Riyadh Municipality announced the signing of 5 contracts to improve the quality of roads in the capital, as an extension of its strategic plans to improve the transportation experience, as the work area within the scope of the contracts reached 83 million square meters for a period of 5 years; for a vibrant Riyadh according to the best standards of efficiency and sustainability.
The contracts aim to raise and improve the quality of roads, and enhance the safe transportation experience within the city and bring it to an advanced level of international standards for measuring road quality, while enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of the services provided. They include rehabilitation and asphalt works, by improving the road network, and works whose stages extend until 2028 AD, and will be implemented in coordination with a number of concerned authorities; to serve residents and visitors to the city.
The municipality follows the mechanism of dividing the city into five zones, including the north, south, east, west and central zone, to determine work priorities according to precise standards resulting from a complete survey of the capital’s roads and streets using the latest technologies and dividing them into work areas that take into account the quality of current roads, safety standards, maintenance works, and coordination with the work of other authorities in the city.
For its part, the Infrastructure Projects Center in the Riyadh region, which was established by a decision of the Council of Ministers on July 19, 2023, contributed within its roles to ensure that there is no duplication of work and that road quality improvement works are sustainable during that period by preparing a comprehensive detailed plan for infrastructure projects in the Riyadh region, including programs allocated to each project, specific timetables, and planned implementation phases.
The signing of these exceptional contracts by the Riyadh Region Municipality in addition to the regular contracts comes to improve the quality of roads within the framework of its efforts to achieve the city’s ambitious goals, and in a way that contributes to improving the quality of life in the capital, and creating a sustainable and prosperous environment; In order to achieve the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, according to the center’s goal to improve infrastructure projects in the Riyadh region; To transform Riyadh into one of the most sustainable cities in the world, raise the efficiency of infrastructure, the efficiency of spending, and improve the transportation experience.
