Halliburton, ADNOC successfully completed the first human-free autonomous drilling trial

Halliburton announced in a statement that, in collaboration with ADNOC Group, the company successfully completed the first human-free autonomous drilling trial in the United Arab Emirates.

Despite the challenges of unconventional reservoirs, the company planned and executed this autonomous drilling well shoe to shoe with 100% accuracy, 27% improvement in ROP and overall well delivery, saving the customer 8.6 days in this section.

During January 2024, Halliburton, and AIQ, joined with ADNOC to successfully launch an AI-enabled Autonomous Well Control solution, RoboWell, across the ADNOC’s North East Bab asset in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The project, which is the first ever AI-supported Advanced Process Control solution for gas lifted wells, enables autonomous wells that can self-adjust to maximize production within specified operating conditions. (read more)
