TotalEnergies announced in a statement that it has signed an investment license with Iraq’s National Investment Commission to develop a 1,000-megawatt solar power plant in the Artawi area of western Basra.
This groundbreaking project, highlighted by Commission head Haider Makkia, marks the first significant step in Iraq’s ambitious plan to diversify its renewable energy resources.
Once completed, the power generated from this plant will be integrated into the national grid, providing clean energy to approximately 350,000 homes in the southern region.
