Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) announced in a statement that Request for Proposals (RFP) has been issued for the Rabigh 4 Independent Water Project (IWP) to the Qualified companies.
Rabigh 4 IWP will be designed using Reverse Osmosis seawater desalination technology.
The desalination plant will be located in Rabigh , 180 km northwest of Makkah, on the coast of the Red Sea in the Western Province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Project will be constructed with a 600,000 m3/day potable water capacity and will include the desalination plant and all associated infrastructure and facilities.
SWPC earlier announced that, eight firms Pre Qualified for Rabigh 4 IWP as follows:
- Acciona Agua and Ajlan & Bros Energy Company Consortium
- ACWA Power
- Cobra Instalaciones Y Servicios, S.A
- Kahrabel FZE (a subsidiary of Engie)
- Marafiq and Alfanar Company Consortium
- Marubeni Corporation
- Utico FZC, Mowah Co. CJSC, and CRCCI Consortium
- Veolia Middle East
Power supply for the project will be facilitated from Saudi Electricity Company’s high voltage network
The developer scope of work includes, development, financing, procurement, implementation, operation and maintenance of the Project.
SWPC will purchase the output and entire capacity of the project, under a Water Purchase Agreement (WPA) for a period of 25 years.
SWPC’s obligations under the WPA will be supported by a credit support agreement from the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
SWPC is advised by KPMG Professional Services (Lead and Financial Adviser), Eversheds Sutherland (International) LLP (Legal Adviser) and WSP (Technical Adviser).
Project Commercial Operation will be in Q4 2025.
