The National Water Company NWC, the main operator of the King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz project for Suqia Zamzam in Makkah, announced the award and signing of the operation and maintenance “O&M” contract for the project “Suqia Zamzam” to Al-Khorayef Water and Power Technologies Company “AWPT,” valued at 195.85 million Saudi Riyals, for a period of five years.
Engineer Nemer bin Mohammed Al-Shebel, NWC CEO (Interim), and Engineer Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Khorayef, AWPT CEO and Chair of the Board, signed the agreement at NWC headquarters in the presence of senior employees of both companies.
Nemer bin Mohammed Al-Shebel, NWC, CEO (interim), demonstrated that awarding the contract for the operation and maintenance of the King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Suqia Zamzam project to APWT would ensure that the company would manage, operate, and maintain the Zamzam water bottling plant and facilities, PET production plant, and the distribution center for a period of 60 months.
Al-Shebel said, “The project of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz for Suqia Zamzam includes four production lines in the bottling plant with a maximum production capacity of 200,000 bottles per day, and the maximum storage capacity of the bottles is about 2.2 million bottles, while the strategic water storage tanks have a capacity of 40,000 cubic meters.
As Al-Shebel pointed out, the company applies operating plans for the King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz project for Suqia Zamzam throughout the year, and the preparatory plans for the seasons are adopted early, so as to meet the daily production capacity needed to supply those who wish to drink blessed water. The capacity of operation, maintenance, pumping, and distribution was increased, and the number of service providers was raised by 100% at peak times. This will ensure that the project will be operated according to the season with continued service delivery through contractors in Makkah, Madinah, and Jeddah.
