SEPCO III, China announced in a statement that, Abu Dhabi’s Taweelah RO desalination plant produced qualified drinking water.
All indicators met the Abu Dhabi municipal drinking water standard, the equipment, installation and commissioning passed the test of strict drinking water standards and achieved the major milestone of producing qualified drinking water.
Statement also mentioned that, the construction duration of Abu Dhabi’s Taweelah RO desalination project spanned the entire epidemic cycle, during which project completed the construction work.
The plant is located at 50 km north of Abu Dhabi. The Taweelah IWP will be the first stand-alone independent water project in Abu Dhabi.
The planned capacity of the project is 200 million imperial gallons a day (909,000 m3/d), it will guarantee supply to the city of Abu Dhabi throughout the year.
ADPower and Mubadala Investment Company hold a 60% equity interest in the Taweelah project while ACWA Power holds the remaining 40%.
