Alfanar Construction awarded an EPC contract for the Installation of Static VAR compensator (SVC), technology at existing Qassim Substation located in Central region of Saudi Arabia.
The project has been awarded by Saudi Electricity Company (SEC).
The value of signed contract is SAR 138.7 million (USD 36.9 million).
A static VAR compensator (SVC) is a set of electrical devices for providing fast-acting reactive power on high-voltage electricity transmission networks. SVCs are part of the Flexible AC transmission system device family, regulating voltage, power factor, harmonics and stabilizing the system.
The Contractor shall perform on Lump sum turnkey basis, the design, engineering, materials procurement, quality management, factory inspection/testing, transport and delivery to site, installation, construction, site inspection, testing and commissioning, all associated work and services until final handing over of substation work in a satisfactorily working and operating condition.
