REPDO received bids for 1000MW Round 3 Solar PV Projects

The Renewable Energy Project Development Office (REPDO) of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Energy has received bidders proposals for Round 3 Category “B” Solar PV Projects of capacity 1000MW, which are part of National Renewable Energy Program (NREP).

REPDO received proposals from the following three consortiums:

  • ACWA Power, Saudi Arabia
  • MASDAR, UAE, EDF Renewables, France and NESMA, Saudi Arabia
  • Jinko Power, China

Category B will consist of two projects of total Capacity 1000MW

  • Ar Rass Solar PV IPP with a capacity of 700 MW to be located in the central Province, approximately 420 km from Riyadh city
  • Saad Solar PV IPP with a capacity of 300 MW to be located in the central Province, approximately 80 km from Riyadh city

REPDO is being advised by Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (DIFC Branch) – Lead and Financial Adviser, DLA Piper Middle East LLP – Legal Adviser and Fichtner GmbH & Co. KG – Technical Adviser for this project.

All projects tendered by The Ministry of Energy are 100% IPPs backed by 25-year Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) with the Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) as offtaker.

Bidders proposals for Category A of projects with total Capacity 200MW is already received by REPDO (read more)

Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) already awarded the 380/132kV Substations to following companies, that will evacuate the power generated from above two powerplants.

  • Saudi Services for Electro Mechanic Works (SSEM) awarded $68.5million Ar Rass Solar PV 380/132kV Substation (read more)
  • Al Sharif Group for Contracting awarded $52.7million Saad Solar PV 380/132kV Substation (read more)
