Spain’s engineering firm, SAVENER announced in a statement that it has been awarded a contract to undertake the engineering design of a new desalination plant, Barka V located in South Al Batinah Governorate.
The Contract was awarded by the developer, partnership of GS Inima of Spain and Italian Fisia Italimpianti of Italy.
Earlier, during November 2020, Oman’s OPWP awarded the Barka-V seawater reverse osmosis (RO) desalination plant with a capacity of around 100,000 cubic metres per day (equivalent to 22 million imperial gallons per day MIGD) to the developer (read more)
In addition to Barka V IWP, GS Inima is developing a 300,000 m3/day (66 MIGD) capacity desalination plant at Al Ghubrah in Muscat Governorate. Investments in both Barka V and Al Ghubrah III IWPs total around $404 million.
Savener scope of work includes the engineering design of five reverse osmosis (RO) trains equipped with spiral wound members, dissolved air flotation (DAF) pretreatment systems, and other filtration equipment.
“This alliance will allow the Savener team and specialists and the GS Inima and Fisia Italimpianti technicians to work in a coordinated manner in all disciplines associated with the project, such as Civil Engineering, Electricity, Piping, Process, I&C, Mechanics or 3D Modeling, guaranteeing the usual levels of demand and quality of Savener projects,” statement said.
