REPDO received bids for 200MW Round 3 Solar PV Projects

The Renewable Energy Project Development Office (REPDO) of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Energy has received bidders proposals for Round 3 Category “A” Solar PV Projects of capacity 200MW, which are part of National Renewable Energy Program (NREP).

Repdo received proposals from the following three consortiums:

  • ACWA Power, Saudi Arabia
  • Total Solar, France and Al-Blagha Holding Group, Saudi Arabia
  • Alfanar, Saudi Arabia

Category A will consist of two projects of total Capacity 200MW

  • Layla Solar PV IPP with a capacity of 80 MW to be located in the Aflaj Province, approximately 300 km from Riyadh city
  • Wadi Al Dawaser Solar PV IPP with a capacity of 120 MW to be located in the central Province, approximately 600 km from Riyadh city

REPDO is being advised by Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (DIFC Branch) – Lead and Financial Adviser, DLA Piper Middle East LLP – Legal Adviser and Fichtner GmbH & Co. KG – Technical Adviser for this project.

All projects tendered by The Ministry of Energy are 100% IPPs backed by 25-year Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) with the Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) as offtaker.

Category B of projects with total Capacity 1000MW is due for submission on 24 May 2021
