Ministry of Electricity & Water (MEW), Kuwait awarded the contract “Supply And Installation Of SHPT “W” 300kV Substation”. The Substation location will be in Al-Sabah Medical District, Kuwait.
The project has been awarded to India based construction firm, Larsen & Toubro (L&T).
The value of signed contract is KWD 16,992,000 (USD 55,602,349).

SHPT “W” 300KV Substation, Kuwait:
Project scope of work involves the construction of 300/132/33kV Gas Insulated Substation.
Following are the major equipment of the project:
- 275/300 KV double busbar totally enclosed, metal clad, SF6 gas insulated switchgear
- 132/145 KV double basbar totally enclosed, metal clad, SF6 gas insulated switchgear
- 300 MVA 300/132/33 KV power transformers
- 33kV, 45 MVAR shunt Reactors
- 33 kV switchgear
- 11 kV switchgear
- 30 MVA, 132/11.5 KV power transformers
- 1000 kVA 11/0.433 KV cast resign station transformers
- HV/MV Power Cables and Terminations,
- AC/DC Auxiliary Power Supply,
- Control/Protection System
- Communication System
- Air conditioning System
- Fire Detection/Alarm and Safety and Fire Protection System
- Civil/Structural works and Mechanical works
The Contractor shall perform on Lump sum turnkey basis, the design, engineering, materials procurement, quality management, factory inspection/testing, transport and delivery to site, installation, construction, site inspection, testing and commissioning, all associated work and services until final handing over of new substation and cable works in a satisfactorily working and operating condition.
