Electricity and Water Authority (EWA), Bahrain announces the bid results for the project, “Dynamic Reactive Power Compensation Project”.
Two bidders has submitted the proposals. ABB Technologies WLL, Bahrain has submitted the lowest bid.
ABB submitted the price of BHD 35,406,228.(USD 94,165,500).
The tender was issued by EWA during January 2021.
As per the tender notification, EWA would like to Install three 200MVar, 220kV STATCOMs, one at each of the new Hidd, new Riffa and Manama 220kV Substations.
These systems will help to mitigate voltage instabilities and minimize the probability of having blackout and load shedding.
Also, they will help to increase power exchange with other GCC countries through GCCIA.
