Siemens awarded $41.4million STATCOM Project in Saudi Arabia

Siemens Limited signed an EPC contract for the Installation of Dynamic Reactive Power Compensator (DRPC),  STATCOM technology at 380kV Kudimi Substation located in Southern region of Saudi Arabia.

The project has been awarded by Saudi Electricity Company (SEC).

The value of signed contract is SAR 155,465,575 (USD 41,457,486).

Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) intends to improve rapid voltage support / dynamic voltage stability at souther area of SEC network by providing a Dynamic Reactive Power Compensator (DRPC) at Kudmi Substation.

The Project scope of works also includes the expansion of 132kV Gas Insulated Switchgear along with addition / modification, of protection, control, communication and SCADA systems associated with the proposed/existing/ongoing substation.

The DRPC together with its associated plant and material necessary for the units to operate as a complete system are required for fast voltage support and future transient stability applications associated with the interconnections and the large percentage induction type air conditioning loads in the network.

The Contractor shall perform on Lump sum turnkey basis, the design, engineering, materials procurement, quality management, factory inspection/testing, transport and delivery to site, installation, construction, site inspection, testing and commissioning, all associated work and services until final handing over of substation work in a satisfactorily working and operating condition.
