EPC Bids awaited for NEOM Green Hydrogen Project

Engineering, Procumbent and Constructions bids are awaited for the planned hydrogen production facility at NEOM powered by renewable electricity in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Earlier, during July 2020, Air Products, in conjunction with ACWA Power and NEOM, signed an agreement for world-scale green hydrogen based ammonia production facility. The value of signed agreement was $5 billion. (read more)

The Project is referred as “Helios Green Fuels Project””. As part of the EPC scope, following utilities will be constructed:

  • Solar PV Power Plant of Capacity more than 2200MW
  • Windfarm Power Plant of Capacity more than 1900MW
  • Battery storage facilities for power storage around 1600MW
  • Hydrogen electrolysis plant of capacity around 2000MW
  • Hydrogen and nitrogen storage facilities
  • Air separation unit
  • Electrical grid system to connect the various facilities
  • Green ammonia plant and storage facilities
  • A maritime offloading facility including a connection to the ammonia storage facility

EPC companies from China and India competing for the project.

The project will yield a totally clean source of energy on a massive scale and will save the world over three million tons of CO2 emissions annually and eliminate smog-forming emissions and other pollutants from the equivalent of over 700,000 cars.

The project is scheduled to be in operation by 2025.
