India’s VA Tech Wabag Limited announced in a statement that, it has secured an order to execute Jeddah Airport 2 independent sewage treatment plant (ISTP) project at Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The value of signed contract is USD 48 million.
The plant will be designed to treat 300,000 Cu.m/day expandable to 500,000 Cu.m/day of wastewater treatment.
The Project has been awarded by Main EPC, Saudi Arabia’s Saudi Services for Electro-Mechanical Works Company (SSEM).
As per the statement, the plant will be built with state-of-the-art NEREDA technology for the first time in the region, a sustainable and cost-effective wastewater treatment technology that purifies water using the unique features of aerobic granular biomass.
The company will be responsible for the design, engineering, procurement of process equipment including process control instruments, supervision, commissioning, and demonstration of process guarantees.
Earlier, During 2019, Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) chosen the the consortium comprising of Veolia, Power and Water Utility Company for Jubail and Yanbu (Marafiq) and AlAmwal AlKhaleejiah AlThania (Amwal AlKhaleej) for Jeddah Airport 2 ISTP.
The Jeddah Airport 2 project will be developed under a 25-year sewage treatment agreement (STA), under which the sewage capacity will be provided by the National Water Company (NWC).
As per the deal, the consortium will be responsible for the development, financing, engineering, procurement, construction, implementation, ownership, operation, maintenance and transfer of the plant.
Project Commercial Operation Date is in 2021.
