Kuwait issued tender for Almutla’a Waste Water Treatment Plant

The Ministry of Public Works, Kuwait invites International Contractors to bid for the construction of Almutla’a Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP).

The Project shall comprise a wastewater treatment plant with a treatment capacity of 400,000 Cu.m/day with future expansion capacity of 600,000 Cu.m/day.

The area of AlMutla’a Waste Water Treatment Plant is estimated at 1,101,000 Sq.m. The plant will be designed to treat the municipal wastewater received from main gravity line 2400mm diameter of catchment area of al Mutlaa housing project.

Scope of work includes the Design and Build Project to Completion of design, construction, Operation and Maintenance, Construct, Supply, Install and Operate and Maintain the following:

  • Lifting station.
  • Treatment plant.
  • Treatment Sludge, storage and transport.
  • Data Monitoring Centre (DMC), Irrigation System.
  • Tanker Stations (filling and discharge) and other associated works

Project scope of work also includes the design, installation, Operation and Maintenance a Renewable Energy Systems (solar, wind, biogas) as partial sources of power (additional and supporting source) to feed Al-Mutla’a WWTP for reducing energy consumption.

The project completion period will be 42 months. There will operational and maintenance period of 24 months will be part of the project.

As per the notification, Interested Companies may obtain Tender against non-refundable payment of KWD 10,000.

Initial bid submission date was 01 November 2020. At present bid submission date is 19 January 2021.

As per the tender notification, the Ministry stated that The Project represents an important opportunity for the private sector to cooperate with the Government of Kuwait for mutual benefit and optimal wastewater service delivery for the citizens of the State of Kuwait.

The Project forms an integral part of the Government’s ongoing initiative to provide a greater role for the private sector in the development of the country’s national infrastructure, and participation by the private sector in the development of wastewater treatment services in Kuwait.
