Qiddiya awards $186.6 million roads and bridges contract

Saudi Arabia’s Qiddiya Investment Company (QIC) announced in a statement, the awarding of the project related to construction of stormwater drainage, roads and bridges.

The value of signed contract is SAR 700 million.

The Project has been awarded to Saudi based construction firm,  Shibh Al-Jazira Contracting Co. – SAJCO. This is the second project, that SAJCO secured from Qiddiya. SAJCO, earlier secured a contract related to road works. (read more)

As part of the contract, SAJCO will build seven bridges, 45km of road works and grade-separated interchanges that will provide access to various facilities . An estimated of 6.5 million cu.m earth excavation is required to perform for the above works.

More than, 80,000 cu.m of concrete will be utilized for the construction of bridges and associated structures. An asphalt of 1.2 million sq.m will be utilized for the road surfaces.

Completion of the project will be in May 2023.

Qiddiya already awarded more than SAR 1 billion of contracts for the year 2020 and is expected to be award SAR 10 billion contracts in coming days.

The project is located nearly 45 km southwest of Riyadh City Centre along Makkah road. It is being constructed on a 334 square-kilometre site.

The first phase comprising the access roads, the City Centre, Golf Area, Motion and Mobility and the Resort Core along with all their required infrastructure systems and an ultimate which includes all other areas and various plots forming the overall master plan.
