Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources, Oman announces the bid results for the following two flood protection dam projects:
- Construction of a Flood Protection Dam at Wadi Adawnib (A1B) in Wilayat Salalah – Dhofar Governorate
- Construction of a Flood Protection Dam at Wadi Annar and River Training at Salalah Marine Port- Dhofar Governorate
The project location will be in Dhofar government in south of Oman and Raysut Industrial Zone is located in Oman’s southern region of Dhofar.
Dhofar government is a Southern province of the Sultanate of Oman, bordered to the South by the Arabian Sea, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from the north and bounded by South Yemen from the west.
Raysut Industrial Zone is four kilometers from the strategically placed Port of Salalah, the only port between Europe and Singapore that can accommodate the S-class – the world’s largest class of container vessels.
The topography can be described as Dhofar mountain range which surrounds costal area. The area is also named stony plains of Salalah.
There are three main wadis in Salalah which discharge the flood into the Port of Salalah. The main and longest wadi is Adawnib that discharges the major part of the flood and sediment into the Port.
The main other two wadis are Annar and Qaftout which discharge the flood into the future extension plan of the port area.
The main objective of the project is to protect target areas including Salalah Port and Raysut industrial area against cyclonic storms mainly by means of the floods peak flow reduction and sediment yield passing through the target area.
The flood protection scheme intends to intercept flood waters coming from wadis originating from the mountain range and flowing into the coastal plain.
The dams described in the project are for general protection scheme aiming to protect target areas from floods, sediment, and debris and avoid losses of lives and damages to properties.
Construction of a Flood Protection Dam at Wadi Adawnib (A1B) in Wilayat Salalah – Dhofar Governorate
A total of six bidders has submitted the proposals. Oman based Construction Company, AZ ENGINEERS AND PARTNERS LLC has submitted the lowest bid.
AZ Engineers and Partners LLC has submitted the price of Omani Riyals (OMR) 23,973, 422.884

A total of six bidders has submitted the proposals. Oman based Construction Company; AZ ENGINEERS AND PARTNERS LLC has submitted the lowest bid.
AZ Engineers and Partners LLC has submitted the price of Omani Riyals (OMR) 21,568,153.622.
