Bahrain awarded $33 million contracts related to 100MW Solar PV Power plant Substation

Electricity & Water Authority (EWA), Bahrain awarded the contracts to build 220kV Substation related to 100MW Solar PV Power plant.

The value of total awarded contracts is BHD 12,384,693.(1 BHD = 2.65957 USD)

EWA awarded the contracts to following companies:

  • Electricity Supply Board of Ireland (ESBI) : ESBI will be the engineering consultant for the project. Value of the contract is BHD 400,000.
  • ABB Switzerland: Supply of 220kV Switchgears and associated equipment. The value of the contract is BHD 4,653,405.
  • Hyundai Electric & Energy Systems Co.: Supply of 66kV Switchgear and associated equipment. The value of the contract is BHD 2,856,583.
  •  LS Cable & System Ltd: For supply of cables. The value of the contract is BHD 2,612,718.
  • CHAPO: For civil and architectural works. The value of the contract is BHD 1,199,807.
  •  COMSIP AL A”ALI: The value of the contract is BHD 662,180.

Electricity & Water Authority, Bahrain plans to develop a solar PV power plant in in the Askar landfill site, in the Southern Governate of the Kingdom of Bahrain on a land area of 2,000,000,000 sqm.

The project will be implemented in line with Bahrain’s National Energy Efficiency Plan and the National Renewable Energy Plan under which the country will aim to produce 5% of its total power from renewable by 2025.

The project covers the construction of a 100 MW solar power plant with all its related facilities.
