Al-Babtain awarded a contract of $20.9 million for MODON’s 115/33kV Substation

Saudi Industrial Property Authority (MODON) awarded the project “construction of 115/33kV Substation in Dammam Industrial City-3”.

The project location is in Dammam, eastern region of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The project has been awarded to Saudi based construction company, Al-Babtain Contracting Company, a subsidiary of Al-Babtain Holding Investment Company.

The value of signed contract is SAR 78.4 million (1$=3.75 SAR).

Earlier, during October 2019, a total of four bidders has submitted their proposals (read more).

MODON’s 115/33kV Substation:

The new MODON Substation will feed power to the load requirements in Dammam Industrial City-3. The Project Scope of Work involves two Portions:

Portion 1:
Construction of 115/33kV Substation consist of following major equipment:

• 115kV Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS)
• 33kV Switchgear
• 80/100MVA, 115/33kV power transformers
• 10MVAr Capacitor Banks
• MV Power Cables and Terminations,
• AC/DC Auxiliary Power Supply,
• Surge Arresters,
• Control/Protection System,
• Substation Automation System (SAS)
• Communication System
• Fire Detection/Alarm and Safety and Fire Protection System
• Civil/Structural works and Mechanical works

Portion 2:

Design and Construction of 115kV double ciruit three phase overhead transmission line between the new substation and source substation.

The approximate route length is 5km.

The project involves using of two (2)-795 kcmil ACSR/AW CONDOR 54/7 conductor per phase and two (2) OPGW along the length of the new line.

The Contractor shall perform on lump sum turnkey basis, the design, engineering, materials procurement, quality management, factory inspection/testing, transport and delivery to site, installation, construction, site inspection, testing and commissioning, all associated work and services until final handing over of new substation and transmission line work and communication work in a satisfactorily working and operating condition.
