KADI submits the lowest bid of $8.5 million for Madinah Solar PV Substation

Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) announces the bid results for the project  “Integration of Madinah Solar PV Power Plant, Substation Portion”.

The Project locations will be in Madinah, Western region of Saudi Arabia.

A total of 14 companies has submitted the proposals. Saudi based Constraction Company, Kadi Trading & Contracting Company has submitted the lowest bid.

Kadi Company submitted the price of SAR 31.7 million (1$=3.75 SAR).

The Substation is made to interconnect the proposed Renewal Energy (Solar PV) Power Plant in the Al Madinah Province, approximately 26 km from Madinah city.

The Planned Capacity of the Solar Power Plant is 50MW. The Proposals for Madinah’s Solar Power Plant are under review by REPDO.

Madinah Solar PV Substation:

Project involves the construction a new indoor 110kV Gas Insulated Substation, arranged in double bus single breaker configuration.

The Substation shall be equipped with IEC 61850 standards based technically and economically optimized Substation Automation System (SAS) and will be remotely controlled from the SEC’s Power Control Center (PCC) through SCADA and Communication.

Substation consist of following major equipment:

  • 110kV Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) 
  • GIS isolating equipment at Medinah PV Plant consist of GIS bays
  • 500kVA, 13.8kV/400V-230V Station Service Transformers
  • 13.8kV Ring Main Unit
  • Advance Metering Infrastructure (AMI) System
  • HV/MV Power Cables and Terminations
  • AC/DC Auxiliary Power Supply
  • Surge Arresters
  • Control/Protection System
  • Substation Automation System (SAS)
  • Communication System
  • Fire Detection/Alarm and Safety and Fire Protection System
  • Civil/Structural works and Mechanical works
  • Security System

The Contractor shall perform on Lump sum turnkey basis, the design, engineering, materials procurement, quality management, factory inspection/testing, transport and delivery to site, installation, construction, site inspection, testing and commissioning, all associated work and services until final handing over of new substation works in a satisfactorily working and operating condition.
