ADNOC awards an order of US$1.65 billion for the Dalma Gas Development Project

The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) awarded two contracts for the construction of offshore facilities related to Dalma Gas Development Project.

The project location is 190 kilometers northwest of Abu Dhabi city.

ADNOC Dalma Gas project is a key part of the Ghasha ultra-sour gas concession which is central to ADNOC’s strategic objective of enabling gas self-sufficiency for the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The Ghasha Ultra-sour Gas Project, has a validity of 40 years and comprises three gas and condensate fields: Hail, Ghasha and Dalma. The region also holds the oil, gas and condensate fields Nasr, SARB and Mubarraz.

Ghasha Concession is the joint venture of ADNOC (60% stake in the concession), Eni (25% stake in the concession), Wintershall (10% stake in the concession) and OMV (5% stake in the concession).

The two Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contracts has been awarded to Petrofac Emirates LLC (Petrofac) and a joint venture between Petrofac and Sapura Energy Berhad (Sapura Energy) through its subsidiary’s branch office in Abu Dhabi.

The total value of the contracts is $1.65 billion (AED 6.06 billion). The contracts are classified as follows:

Package A :

Under the terms of Package A,  EPC contract, valued at $591 million (AED 2.17 billion) and awarded to a joint venture (JV) between Petrofac and Sapura Energy.

The JV will execute the engineering, procurement and construction of four offshore wellhead towers, pipelines and umbilicals in Hair Dalma, Satah, and Bu Haseer fields.

Package B :

Under the terms of Package B, EPC contract, valued at $1.065 billion (AED 3.9 billion) and awarded to Petrofac.

The contractor will carry out the engineering, procurement and construction of gas conditioning facilities for gas dehydration, compression and associated utilities in Arzanah Island located 80 kilometers from Abu Dhabi city.

The gas will then be sent to Habshan Gas Processing Plant for further processing required to produce sales gas, condensate, and sulfur.

Both contracts are expected to be completed in 2022. Once, the project is in operational, Dalma Gas Development project to produce around 340 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) of natural gas.

ADNOC recently awarded the PMC contract Ghasha Ultra-sour Gas Project to US based oil & gas firm, KBR. (read more)
