Bahrain signed financing deal of $266 million for the construction the King Abdullah Medical City

The Saudi Development Fund (SDF) and the Arabian Gulf University (AGU) has signed an agreement on financing the project “construction King Abdullah Medical City” in Bahrain.

The value of the deal is BHD 100 million. (BHD = 2.65957 USD).

Earlier, AGU awarded the construction contract of the project to Saudi based construction company, Al Fouzan Trading and General Construction Company. The construction activities of the project will begin soon.

The signing ceremony was attended by Saudi Ambassador to Bahrain His Royal Highness Prince Sultan bin Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Supreme Council for Health (SCH) President Lieutenant-General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa, Education Minister, Higher Education Council President Dr. Majid bin Ali Al-Nuaimi and Health Minister Faeqa bint Said Al-Saleh.

SDF Vice Chairman and Managing Director Dr. Dr. Khalid Bin Sulaiman Al-Khudairi signed the deal along with AGU President Dr. Khalid bin Abdulrahman Al-Ohali

King Abdullah Medical City in Bahrain:

The medical city will consist of a 288-bed medical Center, that is in compliance with the highest international standards and specifications in this field.

It will also include a number of research and excellence centers, as well as a college of medicine, making it a comprehensive Center for medical education and medical services that would offer its services to patients from Bahrain and neighboring GCC states.

The work on the medical city project will be implemented in four phases.

The first phase includes the implementation of electricity, water and sewage networks, and fire-fighting, irrigation and rainwater drainage networks, that is in addition to the construction of internal roads and installation of street lighting.

The second phase will be the construction of a main power plant to supply the city with electricity, while the third and fourth phases will include the construction of a sewage plant and the development of the roads networks surrounding and leading to the city.

King Abdullah Medical City Hospital is expected to be operational by the beginning of 2022.
