Bahrain Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning (Municipalities Affairs) receives the bids for “Consultancy Services for an Integrated Waste Solution to include Waste to Energy Facility”

A total of four consultants has submitted the proposals. They are:

As per the Ministry requirements, the Consultancy Services includes the conducting feasibility studies for an Integrated Waste Solution including energy from waste facility.

The Consultant will undertake a detailed evaluation based on new studies and studies already carried out by various government authorities.

Earlier, Bahrain plans to construct Askar Waste to Energy Plant in Southern Bahrain. The project aims at solving Bahrain’s waste issues.

The project includes the construction of a plant to treat 390000 t/y and generate 25 MW power. Mott MacDonald was the feasibility study consultant for that project.

Waste to energy is increasingly being identified as a renewable energy source of great potential, as it integrates both waste management and renewable energy production into a feasible solution.

Waste-to-energy plants are functional 24 hours a day, seven days a week, throughout the year.

The value of clean energy is undeniable, increasing the profit margin for producers of this energy. Another attractive feature about waste-to-energy is that it is a sustainable growth market.
