Bahrain’s Ministry of Housing signed a contract for construction of housing project at East Sitra City. The project has been awarded to China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC).
The value of signed contract is BHD 259,727,811.437 (1 BHD = 2.65957 USD).
The East Sitra city will provide 3,000 housing units. The general plan for East Sitra includes all the facilities and services that serve the residents of the city, such as health, educational and commercial facilities, places of worship, commercial centers, fuel stations, police stations and coast guard, youth centers and elderly care, parks and public parks.
The city will also includes basic services such as power stations, water tanks, a sewage treatment plant, communications towers and the sea fronts with a length of 6.6 km.
The contracts were signed by Basim Bin Yacob Al Hamar, Bahraini minister of Housing, and Fang Yanshui, vice president of CMEC in Manama.
Al Hamar said that the East Sitra City project is one of the key projects initiated by the ministry to provide 40,000 housing units.
The project is also in line with efforts to hit the 25,000 housing unit target that the government is currently working towards.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with Bahrain to execute this key strategic project. Meanwhile, we are committed to delivering this project according to the plan and technical specifications agreed upon with the Ministry of Housing,” Fang said.
The East Sitra project is a social housing development, whose main mission is to ensure the provision of a vibrant and integrated master plan fully coordinated with traffic and infrastructure requirements.
The project is to be built on a reclaimed island of 253.4 ha connected to the Shk. Jaber Sitra Highway by two main accesses adequately located on the western plot boundary.
