Bahrain’s Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications (MTT) receives the proposal for a tender “Consultancy Services of the Metro Project Phase One”.
As per the statement, a total of eight international firms has submitted the proposal. They are, Deloitte Professional Services (DIFC) Limited, Al Zayani Engineering, Gulf International Bank BSC, Lazard Freres, KPMG, Price water house Coopers ME Limited, Parsons Global Services LTD and Ernst & Young.
The submitted proposals will be evaluated by ministry and later the financial results will be declared.
Earlier, during February 2019, MTT invited qualified consultants to submit their proposals for transaction Advisory services which will include providing support to the Ministry in the preparation of documents, tender, evaluation and appointment of the preferred bidder.
The estimated value of the Metro Project is between $1 billion and $2 billion and is likely to be built with private participation.
The Bahrain Metro is part of the kingdom’s Public Transport Masterplan 2030, which has recommended the development of 184 km of transit network comprising six lines. As per the report, the project is being implemented in four phases. In Phase One, two lines – running 30 km – will be constructed covering 20 stations.
