Saudi Arabia’s Water & Electricity Company (WEC) invited the qualified companies/consortiums to submit their expressions of interest (EOI) for the Jubail (Phase-3) Independent Water Projects (IWP).
The project will be designed using Reverse Osmosis seawater desalination technology.
The location of the plant will be in Jubail region, eastern region of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
WEC initially, during 2018 invited EOI for an integrated water desalination and power plant of 1,170,000 m3/day net of potable water capacity and 3,000 MW of power, together with associated infrastructure and facilities.
Power supply for the project will be facilitated from the high voltage network
However, WEC revised the above concept and decided to make it two IWPs . The Two IWPS will be tendered separately.
- Jubail-3 (A) will have potable water capacity of 600,000 m3/day
- Jubail-3 (B) will have potable water capacity of 570,000 m3/day
The developer scope of work includes, development, financing, procurement, implementation, operation and maintenance of the two desalination plants of 600,000 m3/day potable water capacity for Jubail-3 (A) and 570,000 m3/day potable water capacity for Jubail-3 (B), together with associated infrastructure and facilities, in a separate tendering process.
WEC will purchase the output and entire capacity of the project, under a Water Purchase Agreement for a period of 25 years.
WEC is advised by Synergy Consulting IFA Inc (Lead and Financial Adviser), DLA Piper Middle East LLP (Legal Adviser) and Atkins (Technical Adviser).
Last date to submit EOI is on 09 June 2019
