Japan’s Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems, Ltd. (MHPS) in a statement mentioned that, it has received an order for the construction of a 1,026.3 MW Gas Turbine Combined Cycle (GTCC) power plant order from Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA), Emirate of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates (UAE)
The plant will be operated on natural gas. The Location of Project is in the coastal city of Layyah. The value of the Project is $550 million.
The Project has been awarded to MHPS in consortium with Egypt’s ELSEWEDY ELECTRIC.
MHPS Scope includes two gas turbines, one steam turbine, three generators and two heat recovery steam generators (HRSG). ELSEWEDY ELECTRIC will provide engineering, procure balance of the plant and other equipment and undertake construction at the site.
Commercial operation of Project is expected in mid of 2021. The project will be the first in Sharjah to be financed as export loan with support from a Japan’s export credit agency (ECA).
