Saudi Arabia Signed $224 million Airport Project

Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) awarded the construction of Qunfudah airport project to Saudi based contractor, NESMA and Partners.
The contact was signed by Minister of Transport and Chairman of the board of directors of GACA Nabeel Al-Amoudi and NESMA Holding’s President Faisal AlTurki.
Prince Badr Bin Sultan, acting emir of Makkah, oversaw the ceremony of signing the contract.
The airport project is located 25 km north of Qunfudah, western region of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Qunfudah located around 365km from Jeddah.
The expected project duration is two (2) years. 
Earlier, a total of eight (8) contractor has submitted their proposal. NESMA and Partners has quoted the price of SAR840 million (1$=3.75 SAR) 
Once the project completed, the airport can accommodate half a million passengers annually. The airport will be built on an area of about 24 million square meters. It has a passenger lounge with an area of more than 20,340 square meters. The airport can handle five flights per hour
The project will be the fourth airport in the Makkah region and 28th in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
